A perennial favourite with children everywhere is Janet and Allan Ahlberg's 'The Jolly Christmas Postman'. On Christmas Eve the Jolly Postman is out making his deliveries. He has a card for the baby bear and lots more suprise envelopes for all his nursery rhyme friends, guaranteed to keep the children enchanted right to the end of the story.

A great Christmas stocking filler, this is our recommended book for December.

Here's a great idea for making saltdough/playdo decorations.

Paper Chains

Make your own paper chains using old christmas wrapping paper. You will need :-

  • old wrapping paper
  • glue sticks
  • scissors
Cut the wrapping paper into strips, approximately 30cms long and 2cms wide.
(The number of strips determines the length of your chain)
Stick the two ends of one strip together to form a ring, the first link.
Repeat with the remaining strips but loop each one through the previous link to form a chain
Hang the chain from wall to wall.

Party Hats

Get your party off to a great start with some cool party hats. You will need some large pieces of  thick coloured paper, some gold and silver card, scissors and a glue stick.

Christmas colouring

Here are some pages to print off and colour in. Use them to make christmas cards, or just to stick them on the wall to brighten the place up. Combine the different pictures to create a winter christmas display.

Christmas worksheets

Help Robbie the Reindeer to complete this selection of christmas themed worksheets. They are all in pdf format so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to open them.

Nativity Scene

The origin of Christmas can be forgotten amid all the excitement and celebrations. A great way to remember is to create a nativity scene. Use Playmobil or Duplo animals, figures and buildings to create your own nativity scene. We have included a background scene which you can print off and colour to give your nativity scene that finishing touch.
