under5s - number activities
The following activities can be printed off and copied for use in your early years setting or, for parents, at home.

All of the files are in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to access them. This can be obtained free of charge from the Adobe website. Click on the link below.

Adobe Acrobat Reader can be configured to launch directly from your browser, so you can click on a pdf link and view it immediately. You will need to click on the 'BACK' button on your browser to return to this page.

TIP!! Open Adobe Acrobat Reader separately and then minimise it, you will find that the pdf files will load more quickly in your browser as you will not have to launch Acrobat Reader for each individual file.

Large number flashcards to print off. You can laminate them to use again and again.

Or get the children to colour them in to use as posters on the wall.

Alternatively arrange different coloured toys e.g. plastic farm animals in groups representing different numbers and encourage the children to count them.

You can also use the toys for sorting e.g. encourage the children to put the different coloured toys into groups of the same colour 5 green, 3 red etc.

Use play to encourage number recognition - shops have different prices for different goods.

Ask children for examples of where they may see numbers in everyday life e.g. house numbers, car number plates etc.
