Gunpowder, Treason and Plot I see no reason why gunpowder and treason Should ever be forgot... This rhyme refers to Guy
Fawkes who tried to blow up the English Houses of Parliament in what is
called the Gunpowder Plot. This act of treason is commemerated each 5th
of November with bonfires and fireworks. Effigies of Guy Fawkes are made
out of old clothes stuffed with newspaper and burnt on top of bonfires.
Children traditionally used to take their 'Guys' around the streets asking
for pennies to buy fireworks with, hence

| Fireworks make
a lot of noise and fill the night sky with spectacular colours. Try
making firework pictures with coloured chalks and large pieces of black
paper.
