Activity –  A ‘light’ look at life at the bottom of the garden!

You will need

  • Collection of real flower petals and small leaves
  • Photocopies of girl/boy faerie
  • Wings – white card, scissors, Clear plastic wallets, Pva glue
  • Children will need
  • A displayed selection of flower petals and leaves.
  • Pva glue
  • Glitter
Prepare the main wings before giving the craft to the children.

1. Cut out the wing template and place the straight edge against fold of paper. Cut out and also cut out the central/shaded parts of the wings.
2. Snip down two sides of an A4 ordinary office plastic wallet and open out.
3. Using the pva glue open out the folded wing and glue the outer frame to the wallet. Repeat for as many wings needed!
4. Allow to dry and then cut out the outside edge of wings only.

1. Talk to the children about the types of flowers you have brought in (and that you were allowed to pick them!) Have whole flowers for them to see.
2. Gently pull off the petals and cut up small leaves to make a collage onto the faerie body. What do they smell like and do the children have flowers where they live?
3. Spread pva glue over the clear parts of the wings and sprinkle with glitter.
4. Glue wing to the back of the Faerie body.

To turn Faerie into a puppet tape a lolly stick or similar to the back.
